Jihei Murase's experimentation with pigmented lacquer produced the beautifully vibrant indigo blue that coats this corrugated nakatsugi tea caddy. Each end of the container is equal in size, including a perfectly round compartment within where matcha is kept. The greatest difficulty in creating this tea caddy is the ridged pattern; though the wood is split into two halves before carving, Murase flawlessly matches each furrow.
