The Swedish-French artist Ingrid Donat has evolved several visual motifs of lines, squares, rings and circles that cover the surfaces of her bronze furniture designs.

Her Commode Facettes Haute is one of Donat’s most intricate artworks, covered in geometric designs achieved by the lost wax casting method. The interior is similarly adorned, and finished in a gold patina to give the commode an interior glow.

The artist’s fascination with marking the surface of her work is born from African scarification traditions, which she first encountered on her childhood home of Réunion island.
