Claudius Linossier Geometric Charger $9,500>
Macklowe Gallery

This Geometric Charger was created by Claudius Linossier. On the reverse of this eye-catching piece is an affectionate dedication to the artist’s dear friend and longtime collaborator Paul Fisch. The front of the charger features a subtly colored but compositionally arresting étoile rayonnante (radiant star). This motif is most frequently seen in European coats of arms dating to the Medieval period—a time period and source of inspiration rarely called upon by Art Deco masters like Linossier. This piece is exceptional not only in its deeply personal nature but also in the uniqueness of its central motif. Born in Lyon, Linossier (1893-1953) was an influential Art Deco metal artist. He is known for his work using the ancient, traditional technique dinanderie, which he learned from his teacher Jean Dunand.
