This set of six chairs were designed by Charlotte Perriand and edited by Steph Simon circa 1960. An iconic Perriand design, they feature a black wood structure and straw seats and backrests (Bois Paillé). Similar models are cited in “Charlotte Perriand: Un Art d'Habiter” by J. Barsac, published by Norma in 2005.
Born in Paris, Perriand (1903-1999) was a French architect-designer who is known for her collaborations with Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Jean Prouvé, as well as her visionary independent projects that disseminated sophisticated modernist design around the world.
