Commissioned for the Kleinhans Music Hall in Buffalo, New York, this chair by Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen was one of the designers’ first collaborative projects, developed while they were still students at Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan. A few years later, another design by this duo would win first prize at the 1941 Organic Design Competition at New York’s Museum of Modern Art— and they were each on their way to becoming American design icons.
