This rare caviuna wood and cavallino leather armchair was designed by Carlo Hauner and made by Forma circa 1952. This design was published in a Forma catalogue.
Born in Brescia, Italy, Hauner (1927-1997) studied design in Milan before moving to Brazil after World War II. There he met Martin Eisler, with whom he founded furniture company Forma Brasil. Forma manufactured the founders’ own designs alongside others licensed from Knoll International. The duo played a
key role in defining mid-century modernism in Brazil.
Literature: Visita à Galeria Artesanal, "Casa & Jardim", feb 1955; Forma, catalogue, 1955.
