With its cold, hard edges and rough finishing, the Flama chair by Brazilian designers Fernando and Humberto Campana disrupted contemporary ideas about the importance of function in design. While its uninviting form makes it an antithesis of a chair, its unapologetic attitude embodied the spirit of the 1980s.
