Bethan Laura Wood designed her Particle Collection during her residency at the London Design Museum, which overlooks the River Thames. Investigating the history of the building and the site, she discovered that it had once been a banana warehouse. In response, she has developed a furniture system based on the visual aesthetic of crates and packaging materials. The furniture of the Particle Collection feature interlocking and stacking units designed to fit within the Museum’s café area. This collection also employs laminates donated by Italian laminate producer Abet Laminati, which have become a signature material for Wood’s practice.
A graduate of the Royal College of Art, Wood is a London-based designer known for her distinct approach to materials, color, and pattern. Her work can be found in the permanent collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum, Wellcome Collection, and Abet Laminati Museum.
