Bahaa Ghoussainy has donated BRT_17, a signed, limited edition C Print photograph—one in a edition of just three—depicting his beloved city. According to the artist, “The ancient cosmopolitan city has known very little to no relief. It has long been marked by the scars of war, disfigurement, and regular disruption. The restless life one leads living in Beirut could reach a dangerous level of comfort, only to be reminded once again of the impermanence of any form of stability.”

He continues: “Despite the massive destruction, strong hope rises among the new generation; the situation is seen as an opportunity for an internal change. One that rejects any affiliation with those who have continuously brought the city to its knees. Reconstruction and renewal are bound to happen, but with its displaced population, the future of the city remains unclear.”

Ghoussainy is a photographic artist based between Bristol and Beirut. He studied architecture and received his MA in Photography from UWE Bristol. Ghoussainy operates at the intersection of architecture, photography, and design. He uses the photographic medium as a non-verbal language to communicate ideas and observations from the built environment. Ghoussainy believes there is an intrinsic relationship between architecture and photography, which he tries to communicate through his practice in terms of both the themes of his work and the methods utilized in production.
