Arnout Meijer Studio's Thanks for the Planets Series (2014) includes a range of light sculptures made of acrylic glass, LEDs, and custom electronics that play with the viewers perceptions. The series consists of four separate designs, each employing a different palette of colors and shades of white that gradually mix and form various patterns. The Amberblue Luminaire measures 55 x 55 x 6 cm. The color temperature of the light emitted transitions between white and red. This design is a limited edition of 5, made to order.

Meijer explains the project like this: “When you think about the design of a luminaire, you design everything except the light. You design the shade, the base, etc. But in the end, you just screw the light in. I wanted to turn that around and start the design process with the qualities of light itself. I worked with the different color temperatures—the change between warm and cool light. The shape is originated from this aspect. On one hand the visual identity of the lamps changes when you adjust the character; on the other you change the atmosphere in the room.”
