Designed exclusively for the SAS Royal Hotel the drawer units hold a very important place in Danish design history and the concept of “total design” by one of Denmark most prominent architects Arne Jacobsen. He worked on the hotel from 1956 to 1961 and designed everything—from the building to its furniture, lamps, textiles, door handles etc. Even the salt and pepper shakers for the restaurant on the 20th floor bear his fingerprint. The drawers were used as bedside tables and writing desks and were mounted directly on the wall, resulting in a light and flexible interior.
