This set in marble was designed by Angelo Mangiarotti for Skipper circa 1970. These pieces are intended to be used as plant holders or pedestals to display treasured objects. They are pictured in the Skipper catalog of 1970 and in “Mangiarotti: Scolpire/Costruire” published by Corraini Editore in 2009 (p.16).

 

Mangiarotti (1921-2012) was an Italian architect, sculptor, designer, and lecturer. His design work is characterized by a purity of form and a masterful handling of traditional materials, especially marble and glass.
