Description

Sarah Myerscough Gallery

Unique. Jim Partridge and Adi Toch conceived this collaborative project from a deep appreciation of each other’s practice and from a desire to respond, as alchemists, to the properties in their respective materials. Adi pours molten silver into Jim’s carved wood forms; this process scorches and forcibly reshapes the timber’s surface. The wood acts as an imperfect crucible, as the silver flows into its cracks and revels in its flaws. The artists have been shortlisted for the Jerwood Furniture Prize twice and were shortlisted for the Loewe Craft Prize 2019. Jim’s museum collections include the Kyoto Museum of Modern Art, Japan; and The Mint Museum of Craft and Design, USA. Adi’s museum collections include The Victoria & Albert Museum, UK; and The Jewish Museum New York, USA.
