Paniagua’s and Moxham’s Neolithic Table was inspired by the Mexico City duo’s ruminations on brutalism and collapsing civilizations. The handmade ceramic components are molded from broken pieces of sidewalk, which are then assembled and finished in with Purhépecha glaze. Due to the nature of its production, this piece is one-of-a-kind.
Sharing a fascination with the pre-hispanic culture of Central America, Mauricio Paniagua and Tony Moxham live and work in Mexico City. Their studio is MT Objects. Originally from Australia, Moxham has a degree in visual communication and has worked extensively as an art director and journalist for clients like Andy Warhol’s Interview, The Face, Versace, Levis, and Deitch Projects. Guatemalan-born Paniagua is a painter who also studied industrial design. The duo met in New York’s East Village and moved to Mexico City in 2005.
