A pioneer of the American studio craft movement, James Blain Blunk spent most of his life in California among the giant Redwood trees, the salvaged wood of which he so deftly sculpted. This monumental wooden arch was made in 1977, carved from a single piece of ancient Redwood burl. It was kept in the Blunk family until 2010.
